Editorial Guidelines

The Journal of Reproduction is a legally established, peer-reviewed, quarterly online publication. Does not have publication fees. It accepts only original manuscripts, not published elsewhere and that are not currently being considered for inclusion in another journal for publication. Areas of interest are physiology and biology of reproduction, infertility and assisted reproduction.

The Journal of Reproduction publishes original research, editorials by invitation, case reports and reviews (narrative reviews, systematic reviews and meta-analyses).

For The Journal of Reproduction the academic values such as the integrity and probity of the collaborators are invaluable and very important. We suggest to the authors to adhere to the follow international ethical editorial regulations.

Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Guidelines

International Committee of Medical Journals Editors (ICMJE) Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals (Formerly Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts, URM).

The Journal of Reproduction technical staff uses a software to detect plagiarism practices, any demonstrable anomaly will cause the cancellation of the possible publication. It will be notified officially to the authors.

As possible authors is necessary that they accomplish all the ICMJE criteria for authorship:

  1. Make substantial contributions to the conception or design of the study and acquisition, analysis, and/or interpretation of data.
  2. Participate in drafting or revising the manuscript. 
  3. Approve the version to be piblished.
  4. Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work and any issues related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work.

Persons that do not comply the requisites to be considered authors, can receive the correspondent acknowledgements in the published article.

Every submitted text must be accompanied for an ICMJE disclosure of interest form for each author (can be downloaded from the official page of the ICMJE).

For your submission please follow the next indications and obtain the ORCID iD for all authors.

General article structure:

First author photo is required.

Randomized controlled trials must comply with the indications of the CONSORT 2010 guideline.

First page.

Running title, with 30 to 50 characters. Title: Maximum 250 characters.

Authors, with affiliations and ORCID.

Affiliation markers: Use superscript Arabic numerals.

Corresponding author with contact information. Address, email, phone with country and area codes.

Second page.

Structured Abstract: With no more of 350 words, with the following sections: Objective (beginning with a phrase like to study, to evaluate, etcetera), Design, Subjects, Intervention (for Randomized Controlled Trials, RCT) or Exposure (for observational studies), Main Outcome Measures, Results, and Conclusion.

Keywords: (Medical Subject Headings, MeSH only) three to six words for indexing purpose.

For a good quality in systematic reviews and meta-analyses please consider the guidelines of PRISMA transparent reporting.

Submission of systematic reviews and meta-analyses requires previous register in PROSPERO, the international prospective register of systematic reviews. Registration must be performed before of commencement of data extraction but after completion of the review protocol.

REDACTION OF REFERENCES

References must be numbered consecutively, with Arabic numerals in the order of text citation.

Citation in text. Please, put the references at end of paragraph. Our example:

Coronaviruses are infectious for human beings, other mammals and birds. Four strains (229E, OC43, NL63, HKU1) cause mild infections in normal people. Two strains, SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV have caused deadly outbreaks; the severe acute respiratory syndrome and the Middle East respiratory syndrome, respectively. New coronavirus, (SARS-CoV2) is the etiologic agent of Covid-19 pandemic. Starting in China, Covid-19 has spread fastest worldwide. Disease is characterized mainly for the presence of respiratory symptoms. However, patients can show extrapulmonary manifestations. Some are trivial as the gastrointestinal symptomatology. However, together with the lung damage; another complications are life treating, even lethal such as renal and hepatic injury, myocarditis, thromboembolism. Survivors may have prolonged complications, as the “long Covid” and post-traumatic stress syndrome (1,2,3).

To prevent errors in citation be careful when copy references. Digital Object Identifier (DOI) use is strongly recommended in references.

References must follow the indications of the National Library of Medicine (NLM).

Example of the NLM website: Standard journal article, the most common kind of reference.

PREPARATION OF ARCHIVES

Text

Prepare your manuscript in a double-spaced Word document using 12-point Times New Roman font.

Leave a one-inch margin on all sides.

Use a simple layout for your manuscript and only basic formatting (bold, italics, superscript, subscript, etcetera).

Do not use Word’s justification or hyphenation option.

Do not use Word’s line numbering option.

Tables and Figures

Figures

For images of patients: Identification of patients must be removed, and face masked.
Images are required in PNG or JPEG formats, resolution 300 ppi (300 dpi) or higher.
Perform the description of the figures in the text of the article.
Please submit figures as separated archives.

Tables

Submit tables as editable text (Word, Power Point, Exel). Submit it as separated archives (capacity maximum 5 megabytes). Number tables consecutively according with their appearance in the text and place any table notes below the table body.
